About the role

In Barking and Dagenham, we recognize the entrenched needs of our community. We are committed to tackling these challenges head on. In doing so we are transforming our services for children and young people, and have already made exciting, innovative changes as we strive for excellence in all we do. Some of these changes include exciting developments such as our Pre-Birth Assessment Team, Exploitation team and an Interventions HUB which will offer evidence based interventions and support to our vulnerable children and families who are receiving assessments, are on a plan or in care . We see our Assessment service as crucial to our endeavours to get it right for our children from the very start so are looking for strong team managers to help us realise achieve this. We are looking for a permanent team manager to join an existing team of experienced staff. Our assessment service has a stable and dedicated workforce, our reliance on temporary cover is low and caseloads are mostly manageable. We are proud of our CARES approach, which follows relationship-based practice principles.

We are putting the heart back into social work, supported by our relational practice model where we ensure the child’s lived experience takes centre stage. Ours is a culture of high support, high expectations and fair challenge. We need committed individuals to support us in the delivery of these aims and to become part of our team to make a difference to our children and families. In return we offer a competitive pay package, £2.5k Recruitment and Retention Allowance, generous pension and relocation package, annual leave up to 30 days, excellent opportunities for career progression, whether you want to broaden your experience as a social worker or step into management, investment in your learning and development as well as a commitment to your wellbeing.
