About the Role  

Deputy Manager - a new Satelite Children's Home opening in September 2023

Grade 9: £43,815 to £51,903 (£53,946 unconsolidated maximum based through performance-related progression)

London Borough of Sutton are offering an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in the expansion and development of a new Satellite Children’s Home. Wanting the best for our children, we are developing our current in-house residential services to best meet the needs of our children. Following significant Council investment, our new Residential Strategy seeks to bring children closer to families and the communities that they know, living in high-quality provision designed around them. We are looking for a Deputy Manager to support the development of the new Childrens Home, drive standards and provide an exceptional service for our young people. 

We understand the importance of getting it right for our young people and offering them the best we can. By applying knowledge and research into practice and working innovatively to understand the impact of trauma we are committed to the highest quality of care.  We believe in nurturing positive relationships and are wholly dedicated to never giving up on a child.

We work within children’s social cares well-established Restorative practice and trauma informed model. Sutton is fully committed to training which fosters skills and expertise around therapeutically working with and supporting children who have experienced developmental trauma. All staff will be required to undertake Restorative Practice and Trauma Informed practice training.

We are a registered provision and we expect to achieve outstanding status.

As a result of successful service delivery at the Willow Rise Children's Home, the London Borough of Sutton will be opening 2 new satellite children's home under the Willow Rise Ofsted registration. Our objective is to continue building local residential placement sufficiency to support the lives of vulnerable children who are in our care.

We have a forward-looking team with ambitions to significantly improve the health, wellbeing and the quality of life for the children that come into our care.

About you

About You  

The Deputy Manager is responsible for supporting the strategic and operational management of the Satellite Childrens Home, ensuring exceptional practice and ensuring all elements of the delivery of Thornton road meets statutory legislation.

This includes:

  • Line management & supervision of staff including Residential Care Support Workers nd Lead Care Co-ordinators

  • Supporting the Registered manager with the oversight of compliance of Ofsted regulations and wider legislation

  • Supporting the registered manager with management of all finances and expenses in line with council  policies and procedures

  • Responsibility for appropriate staffing levels within the children's home  inline with ofsted regulations as well as oversight of weekly rotas

  • To ensure that all statutory reports and recording are reflective, accurate and in the interest of safeguarding and reflect outcomes

  • Ensure all local practice policy and procedures are adhered to and embedded

NVQ level 5 health and social care in a residential setting or equivalent is an essential requirement for this position. You will also be expected to work shifts including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-in duties. Additional payments are paid for out-of-hours work.
