About the role

Childrens Service S02: £40,182.00 “We keep on striving for the best for our children and young people” In the Specialist Intervention Service, we have created a hub of preventative intervention services which assist in reducing the number of children who enter the care system as well as improving their life chances and safety. We are working with all Teams across Children’s Care and Support to improve the outcomes for children and young people on the edge of care. We are looking to appoint a creative and innovative Family Support Worker, into our Specialist Family Support & Volunteer Team. You will be experienced in providing high challenge and high support, at times when children and families need our support the most. This will involve some evenings and weekend work, which is essential to make sustained, embedded change. The children and families you support will experience from you well thought out direct work, planned and targeted parenting support, and will benefit from your partnership working with other areas of the Specialist Intervention Service who may also be involved. This post offers an opportunity to learn and expand new creative methods of working with children, young people and their families. About you

You will be committed to making a difference to the lives of children, focussed on delivering positive outcomes with the ability to manage your own workload and meet agreed deadlines. You will be open to learning new skills and methods of working with children and carers as well as be being flexible and able to think and change practice on your feet as the client needs requires. Knowledge and understanding of young people and their families and the challenges they can face, and experience of safeguarding in a statutory setting is essential. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well the ability to analyse complex information. You will be able to make confident decisions, whilst demonstrating an ability to incorporate a variety of theoretical models which build on families’ strengths and focus on their protective factors. You will have an understanding and experience of contextual safeguarding and will keep the child at the centre of your practise.
