About the role

Children and young people are at the heart of our Family Support & Safeguarding Service. We are focused on improving outcomes and keeping children safe through a relationship based approach, excellent assessment and planning, and a drive towards permanence. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner who wants to remain in practice whilst also taking on a management and teaching role to join us as Consultant Social Worker.

You will actively seek opportunities to improve service delivery and best practice through the development of your team and the wider teams’ professional capability through mentoring, coaching, observation, as the practice lead/practice educator for both newly qualified social workers and students across the Service. You will also hold a small case load of complex cases and will also complete Parenting Assessments and other assessments as required.

About you

You will need to be passionate about striving for best outcomes for children, young people and their families and demonstrate creative and relational approaches to achieving these outcomes, working respectfully and taking account of their views, wishes and feelings.

You will have extensive social work experience and have demonstrated the skill to use this knowledge to enhance the practice of others including the use of coaching, mentoring skills and the ability to motivate others. You will have proven expertise in working alongside management teams to drive and maintain excellent service delivery for children, young people and their families.
