The role currently receives 2 spinal points for market pay which takes the salary range to £56,376 - £60,573 per annum

The role also attracts a Golden Hello payment of £4,500 , paid in two instalments

About the role

Merton’s Family Support and Safeguarding Service is looking for a someone with the skills to develop the Designated Social Care Officer role in Merton.

The DSCO is a role working across both Children’s and Adult’s Social Care (0-25 years). This role will  lead in framing and developing social care elements of the SEND Improvement Plan across the Local Authority, working collaboratively with education and social care staff.  This role will ensure that social care meet their statutory responsibilities under the Children & Families Act (2014) and Care Act (2014), and to drive forward organisational culture change aligned to the SEND reforms.  

About you

The position of the DCSO combines both operational and strategic responsibilities. It will be essential that you:

  • Are passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) 
  • Have in depth knowledge of both social care legislation and SEND reforms 
  • Can negotiate and influence other. Build and nurture effective partnerships working with a wide range of stakeholders across the Local Authority, community, ICB, parent and voluntary organisations, promoting opportunities for co production.
  • Can offer training, advice and guidance to staff   
  • Can identify opportunities where the EHCP process requires improvement and to offer solutions
  • Has the ability to drive change

We are looking for a social worker who is passionate about working with children and families and who wants to join us in Merton to bring about positive change for families.
