About the role

You will act as the regionalisation fostering lead within the fostering service, reporting into to the Head of Fostering.

This role will be an integral part of the expansion of our fostering placement sufficiency and stability through the regional recruitment hub. Lead on the link to the regional and our sub-cluster recruitment. 

Attending regional and cluster meetings, assisting with the expansion and assist with the initial visits of prospective carers, attend events and support enquiry services. As part of this role you will supervise the recruitment support officer.

Ideally you will have a strong understanding of fostering regulations. Its a creative, supportive and analytical role with the opportunity to be well supported and have full access to incredible training opportunities within AfC.

About you

To be a Fostering Lead at AfC, you will be passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We are looking for someone who can work flexibly, has excellent communication skills and can work collaboratively to achieve shared outcomes. It’s a genuine team effort in AfC. To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate;  

  • Previous experience of a range of supervising social workers in the context of children social care/fostering, preferably 3+ years experience as a senior social worker or team leader
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Children Act 1989 and 2004, Fostering Regulations and National Minimum Standards; including awareness of current national policy, evidence based research and best practice that affects children’s social care. 
  • Demonstrated experience in assessment writing including Form F, Form C 
  • Demonstrated ability to explain professional reasoning, judgements, and decision making in a constructive and supportive manner through various communication methods. 

In addition we expect all of our social workers to have:

  • A professional social work qualification, CQSW or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or other relevant qualification recognised by Social Work England.
  • Active Social Work England registration and proven evidence of CPD. 
  • Experience in managing an allocated caseload, including complex cases; planning and organising workload to meet statutory timescales.
