It is with immense pride that Hammersmith and Fulham (H&F) Children’s Services are able to share that following their recent ILACS inspection, they were awarded OUTSTANDING by Ofsted.

The report is a reflection of the determination, empathy, and commitment of H&F’s staff to improving children and young people's lives.

Since the last inspection, highly effective and committed leaders have continued to make improvements:

  • Children are prioritised by political and corporate leaders, who have successfully strengthened early help services and have plans for further development, with family hubs opening across the borough.
  • Investment in one additional social work team within the assessment and support services has significantly reduced caseloads and is assisting workers to visit children more frequently and work more intensively with them and their families.
  • Social workers enjoy the supportive environment that leaders have created in the borough, allowing impressive social work practice to flourish. They talk positively about career progression opportunities and are supported to learn useful skills for direct work with families.

This is a truly great endorsement of H&Fs work with children, young people and families, and an example of the fantastic support, assistance and cooperation provided by everyone in Children's Services.

“We come to work to do the very best for the children in H&F and it is wonderful to see your skill, tenacity and care externally validated by Ofsted. For me, there are two measures of success for an effective system and they are that staff feel valued and have the space to do meaningful work and that, that work has a positive impact in improving lives and ensuring our children can be the very best they and are nurtured and cherished and that's what we have created together”

Amana Gordon, Operational Director Children and Young Peoples Service

Cllr Alex Sanderson added:

“Hammersmith hand Fulham is a borough for everyone and our heart is a mission to improve and change the lives of our youngest residents. Giving them the very best start in life so that they can thrive, enjoy life and help us build a better future. Ofsted has confirmed that we are doing just that”

Cllr Alex Sanderson, H&F Cabinet Member for Children and Education.
